Perkerra Irrigation Scheme: Keeping the Hope alive

Despite the ongoing global pandemic of Covid-19, the National Irrigation Authority strives to ensure that the Kenya’s food basket is not greatly affected by the turn of events. This is accomplished through providing water for irrigation in various irrigation schemes and projects. Perkerra Irrigation Scheme in Baringo County is among these, which has currently planted 1,380 acres of seed maize and aims to achieve the target of 2600 acres by end of April 2020. While undertaking the planting exercise, farmers have been strictly following the preventive measures and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health to help combat the spread of corona virus in Kenya. The Authority endeavors to achieve the goals set towards realization of Food Security and Nutrition under the Big 4 agenda.
