Background Information
Bunyala Irrigation Scheme was established in 1964 but started its operation in 1969. It was started with the sole purpose of bringing areas in Bunyala under irrigation to increase food security in the western Kenya region and Kenya at large.
The scheme stopped its operation between late 1990’s and early 2000’s but was revived after 2004 with the vision of ensuring water to every irrigable Acre.
